I had a customer whom couldn’t get into Backup Exec because the Backup Exec Server Service would not start. When I tried to start is the following error would appear in the Applications Event Viewer.

Installing SQL Management Studio Express 2005 and removing the record relating to TestRun 00002 of <BACKUP_JOB_NAME> allowed me to get the Backup Exec Service Service started. Had some other issues once I was able to get into Backup Exec.
- Tape drive didn’t appear in Devices. Ran the Add new Devices wizard and went though the motions. Had to restart Windows before tape drive appeared in Devices.
- Media Sets had disappeared. Tried to create a new media set but received an Access Denied error
